  1. A certified auto mechanic gets paid by the flag hour. A industry standard auto repair books list each auto repair and the time that they said it will take to do the job-->flag hour. If the job calls for the job to be completed in 3 hours, you are paid for 3 hours, if you can do the job in 1 you still are paid for 3 hours, if it takes you more than 3 hours, you are still paid for 3 hours. An experienced certified auto mechanic can easily make a six figure annual income working for a major dealership. Work is steady and relatively easy to find. The demand for certified auto mechanics is very high and will be over the next 20-30 years. I don't know how much of a demand there is for custom paint jobs, but I would think major trucking firms that advertise beer and etc. on the trucks would provide you will a chance to display you art skills. Communication arts positions are difficult to find and the length of job is usually until the project is completed, then you are off to find another position.
