How do the Japanese feel or relect when it comes to verbal communication ?

My boss is sending me and a 2 coworkers to our branch office in Japan. After researching the issue of verbal and nonverbal communication styles in Japan, I need to send a memo to the boss summarizing my findings and explaining how I can use the information to enhance communication during this trip. I have the nonverbal covered but need information regarding verbal communication styles in Japan.
