Communication Needs

What qualities do you think make any form of written communication effective?

Being that we are talking online I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on the qualities ya'll thougth made up written communication.

1. simplicity for starters. if you write at a level above your readers then it is a waste of time. Likewise you do not want to "talk down" to your readers. sometime a life example helps to make a point. keep it simple and clear.
2. Correct spelling, clear, short sentences, correct punctuation. And "being that we are talking online," I'd have to say avoiding txtspeak too!
3. Grammar and correctly spelled words (example, no texting, as mentioned above).
