What is the communication problems of new coke toward customers?

What are the problems of communication, image or positioning of "new coke" in 1985 ?

  1. It seemed like they just sprung it on us. It was a huge campaign telling us it was sooo fabulous and it really sucked. Then everyone was trying to find the "left over" real coke at all the little mom and pop stores. There was not a problem with the old coke and everyone was mad that they changed it. Coke is part of our lives and they stole it away for a short time.
