What is the difference between single and multi-mode fibre optic cables?

- If I remember correctly, Single mode means the pulse travels in one direction at a time and Multi mode means they can travel back and forth at the same time. Hope this helped a little.
- Single mode is one pair and multimode is several pair cable. Basic difference is several connections may be drawn through multimode fiber optic cable.
- Hi mohammad is some wht correct. In single mode there is a single medium of data transer and in multimode u can send data through multiple mediums.
