Help with at&t wireless modem?!? Everything is working fine but the wireless light would usually only be on when my laptop or PS3 was connected to the internet but now it's on when everything is off, I disconnected the power of my electronics to make sure and also tried restarting the modem. I think some hacked my wep security on the modem, I have a friend who knows how to do that. So I want to know if it's normal or not and what I should do if someone IS using my internet for free.

Which wireless company is better: AT&T or Sprint ? Alright, so I live in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and I am currently a Verizon Wireless subscriber. While I know VW coverage map shows coverage in LHC, they in fact do not: it is complete roaming with no EDVO (sp?) or 3G coverage, with calls/texts sometimes not going through or recieved. Thus, there is a chance I can leave VW and not have to pay the ETF (early termination fee), and there are two companies that get good coverage: AT&T and Sprint (I won't even mess with T-Mobile). 1) How is the dropped calls with either company where you live? 2) What is your opinion on the value of your service with either company? 3) What is your opinion of the customer service with either company? 4) Which, of the two, would you reccomend to me? Please note, VW is not an option ... only AT&T and Sprint. Please be honest and fair. Thanks :)
Whats the best company to go through for wireless broadband internet? looking at dropping my cable service, kinda like the idea of something wireless. Is it just as fast as Cable or DSL? I was looking at T-mobile but I've heard people say Verizon is better.
My laptop won't find my wireless signal? I have a wireless signal at home through my cable company. I just borrowed a friends laptop, and when I click the icon on the bottom right, where its supposed to search for a wireless network, and then you can choose which one to connect to, its not finding mine? I'm sitting like 3 feet from the box in my room, and its not finding that, or any other signal in my area. There is a message: No wireless networks found. Check to make sure your computers wireless switch is turned on. I don't know what that means? How can I get the laptop to find my signal? Also, I'm pretty sure its my laptop, and not the wireless connection itself. My roommate is able to find our network on his Droid and use it. AT&T Sim/Go Phone Question? I currently have a two year contract with at&t and my phone is not working too well. I was wondering if I could just go to walmart and purchase an at&t go phone and put my sim card in there. If I do this will everything work as normal, such as MMS messaging and internet? Unable to connect my laptop to the wireless router at the hotel but works fine at home? This is driving me crazy. I have a wireless router setup at home which I have no problem connecting to so the my laptop is working fine. But when I use it on the road or at a hotel I can't connect it to their wireless router. Vista and wireless at home not connecting? Have had a wireless network at home for years that has supported several XP notebooks flawlessly. Have added a new Vista notebook and it will not connect at all, nor will it tell me why. It sees the network, it just won't connect to it. Security is enabled in the network and the Vista machine has all client settings set like the XP machines. Note that the Vista notebook WILL connect to other non-secure wireless networks in my neighborhood. Please help with any ideas if you've experienced this. Thank You. Note, other XP notebooks that my kids' friends bring over can connect anytime with the proper security settings. So far, the only thing unique to my machine is that it's Vista.
Is it possible to connect to multiple wireless networks at once? My house has one wireless network, and my neighborhood has a public network close to my house. Both of them aren't very good. I've set up a wireless network at home, but not all the computers will connect to it. What do I do? I set up an encrypted wireless network (WPA-2 TKIP/AES) with no problems at all and was able to connect an iPod touch, a netbook with Windows 7, and a laptop with Windows XP after entering the password. However, my laptop with Windows Vista cannot access the internet after connecting to the network. If I take the encryption off then I can access the interent but obviously I don't want to have an open network. Obviously there is some problem with the way my laptop (a Toshiba Satellite if that means anything) deals with the encryption. I've tried the steps my computer recommended including turning the router and modem on and off, resetting the wireless adapter on my computer and refreshing my IP address all to no avail. Any ideas?

My wireless internet is very inconsistent and usually doesn't work at all...? I have a 2wire router/modem thru att. have been on tech support multiple times but to no avail have they succeeded in fixing my problem. They said my speed even thru the wired pc is not as fast as it should be based on my dsl plan, but whatever, becuase the speed it is right now is fine for me; it is the wireless devices that are causing problems. for example, my xbox 360 and other pc are using a buffalo airstation to access the signal one floor above the router, literally 10 feet directly above it ....the x box almost always lags or doesnt connect at all, and the pc often has ip address conflict or dropped signal. When i hardwire either device downstairs directly to the router they work fine, if i could only get this hardwired like connection quality upstairs wirelessly it would be perfect. I dont know if i should replace the router modem, or if its a problem with the recieving end upstairs. Should i get a new modem completely? Maybe set the 2wire thing to modem only mode and get a new wireless n router? Or maybe keep the router/modem and get one of those new plaster networks pln3 things that use the electrical wiring in your house to transfer the signal? I know this is alot im throwing out there, but i am just looking to solve my lingering wireless problems that have been haunting me on and off for the last few years. Any help would be appreciated. Need help regarding AT&T Internet and Modem? I'm moving to Atlanta and have decided not to get Comcast Internet, as they charge a whopping $50 a month for internet!! AT&T seems to be the best option available, as they charge $19.99. However, they do charge $100 up front for their wireless modem (unless you can provide your own). How much would buying my own modem cost? I'm not very technology savvy, so I don't know what is necessary to have (modem, router, etc.). Is a modem all I would need, or would I need a router too? I also don't know if any or all modems are compatible with AT&T internet. I'll be sharing my apartment with a roommate, so multiple computers would need internet access through this modem, as well as any visitors. Thanks in advance for the advice!

what can pull in a better signal to a laptop connect card through at&t? i was told by an at& t rep once that i could get an external antena that would attach to the wireless laptop card and run to the outside of your house. i saved the site i found them on to my favorites but somehow it got erased. does anyone know what i am talking about and where i can get it
Why won't my wireless adapter connect to the internet? My mom uses a Belkin router, and her computer connects fine. When I setup my computer to use Belkin and everything my wireless adapter would not connect to the internet. It says there is "limited or no connectivity". If I plug in ethernet cable directly from my computer into the router then it connects fine but it won't work with my wireless adapter. I don't have this problem when i'm at my house, it connects fine to my dad's wireless network.
Can your company control what you access at home or when traveling if they pay for the wireless adapter? If my company provides me a laptop and an at&t wireless adapter and plan, can they prevent me from using certain sites even when not in the office? For instance, i cant use facebook or youtube at work, will this be the same on the company provided laptop when not at work?
We using a Wireless network at home, my laptop works on it fine, but my sisters can be very tempramental why? My laptop was a cheap one I bought from Dell, with an internal wireless internet thing. My sisters was much more expensive but uses and card thing to connect. Hers is in most ways much better than my laptop yet mine connects easily and well. Her's often won't at all. If you turn your phone in to a wireless company can they look at the text messages & pictures on your phone? I had a problem with my verizon wireless phone so I brought it into the nearest verizon store and because of the year warranty they gave me a new phone. I forgot to delete the text and picture messages on my phone, sent and received, and I was wondering if the people at verizon are able to look at those messages now that they have my phone. I can only make/receive calls and text messages. I have an iPhone 1G that is jail-broken and unlocked. New SIM card in same phone... text messaging doesn't work.? I have an old AT&T Wireless plan from several years ago (before they were bought by/became Cingular). When my phone died last year I had to buy an unlocked GSM phone on e-bay because my SIM card would not work in the Cingular phones and I wanted to keep my AT&T minutes plan. I bought a Nokia E50 smartphone nine months ago and everything was fine until I needed to replace the SIM card (original SIM card was getting old and unreliable). I bought a new SIM card, making sure it was an "old AT&T Wireless account" SIM card, called customer service so they could activate it, and put it in my phone. Phone calls are working OK but text messaging is not. I need help configuring my phone and new SIM card for messaging- customer service can't help because I don't have one of their phones. Can't get my wireless router up and running...? I just bought a Linksys Cisco router from walmart and am having problems getting it to work. I have DSL from at&t and everytime I use the setup wizard I put all the cords in the right places as illustrated but it ALWAYS says ''ethernet cord not properly plugged in". Why can't I connect two laptops to the internet at one time with a Linksys wireless route? I can get on the internet just fine. Or visa-versa for my Wife, but if we are both trying to get on or I am on and she tries it will kick both of us off. Is my xbox wireless adapter or xbox 360 broken? I had a power surge a couple days ago and only my xbox shut off and it had 3 red sectors flashing on it. I turned it off and then back on but the controller I was using had to be re-synched before it would work again. I have since played games on it just fine but Xbox live hasn't been working and I looked at my wireless adapter on the back because it was saying there is no connection anymore and it doesn't have any lights on or anything. I tried plugging the adapter into the front USB to see if it would power on and had no luck. other accessories still work in them all. The only conclusion I can come up with is that the adapter is broken, one I got on ebay like 5 months ago, of course. Could a small power surge like that totally break a wireless adapter? Is it fixable or do I have to buy another one? I just bought a brand new wireless adapter from walmart last night and tried plugging that in and it has no power either. Also, my controllers are not staying synched with the xbox, I have to resynch them when I turn it on and they won't even synch right away like normal, the green light just swirls around and stops and the controller still doesn't work so I have to turn the console off and on again and keep trying till it works. Why can't my computer access the internet wirelessly at the same time as another wireless computer in my house? For 2 years my husband and I have connected to the internet wirelessly through an "Orange Livebox". Just recently there has been a problem connecting both computers to the internet at the same time. We can both connect to the Livebox with a strong signal and Vista/XP both show we have local and internet connection but we can't load and web pages when opening our browsers (we both use Firefox). I have a Belkin wireless router chilling next to my modem, in my room. Now, all that being said, I have my 32" LCD TV hooked up to my laptop, with an HDMI cable. I mirror the image on my computer onto my TV. Pretty basic stuff. The only thing is, when I run the internet, even with a wire, through the router, then to the computer, the internet is slower. If I turn off the wireless on my laptop, if i can load a website, its a shock. When I run from the modem to the computer, directly, the internet is very fast. Is there a way to do a break, from the back of the modem, with 1 branch going to the wireless router, for my iTouch, and one wire going directly to my computer? my computer is not going to leave the position its in. I have never moved it from the desk and have no intention of doing so. The wireless router I have is the basic Belkin router. I know, its cheap but my room is maybe 20 feet by 10 feet, at its 2 longest points. Its not much room to cover, so I don't feel I need to do overkill with a crazy router, but if that's what it will take, that's what I'll do. My co-worker does all of his gaming on his computer and told me he has a gaming router. I guess I'll put this in all caps so everyone can read it clearly: I DON'T DO, AND NEVER WILL DO ANY GAMING ON MY COMPUTER. IN MY EYES, GAMING SHOULD BE DONE ON GAME CONSOLE'S. YA, IT MAY BE BETTER ON THE COMPUTER IN EVERY WAY, BUT ITS JUST MY OPINION TO NOT GAME ON A COMPUTER. i dont know how many computer questions i have where people tell me to buy something, so i could have the option of doing gaming. this computer's life is only spent going on Hulu to watch tv shows in the US, and of course, downloading, legally. that's its whole life. I just want it to be done quickly. just to load this website took a good 10 minutes. from modem straight to this computer, it would take less than a minute. in my job, i deal with computers, on a secure network and have tried doing just wireless, just wired through the router and tried to see if the computer would use both the router and wired together, to go extra fast, which wasn't the key. my super long question is basically "can i bridge or branch out from my modem?" A visual of what i would hope for: TV<------Computer<-----------Modem iTouch<--Wireless Router----Modem here's what i did, because i didn't instantly hear back. i know, its kinda hard to answer the question. the whole being overseas thing really kills talking to someone directly. I reset all my connections and now it seems that my computer is working semi-fast. not quite the speed that the modem to computer works in, but fast enough for now. i can't get video's on Hulu to load, which is a major bummer.

I have a pantech slate from AT&T. the phone came with mobile email and yellow book. i dont have a data plan, just unlimited text messaging. checking your email/sending an email from my phone counts as 1 text message. does connecting to the email and yellow book application count as data? will i be charged?

Why can't I get wireless broadband at other locations? Why don't broadband providers allow me to access the internet at any location that has a land line? How can i not get caught using a wireless router on a network that doesn't allow it? At my dorm we use the Apogee network. They don't allow you to use a wireless router.
